4th of July in Kingston Report and What’s Next After the House Caves to the Regime

“Many thanks to everyone who turned out anywhere to show up at local protests throughout Kitsap on July 4th. Now what? We are catching our breath and putting our collective heads together nationwide to figure that out. We MUST stay mobilized, grow our numbers, and let our tyrannical government know that Project 2025 is NOT a done deal. We do NOT surrender. Pay attention, stay abreast of the daily news, and stay plugged in here as we organize our next moves. The one thing we know for sure is that no one is coming to rescue us and resisting at the local level is critical. Thanks again for your energy and support, we applaud you! “

Report on the 4th of July Events

In Kingston

We had a very successful turnout at the Kingston 4th of July parade. We set up our event outside the Firehouse Theatre along the parade route. We did not march officially in the parade, but many people, wearing NKI tees, joined the parade at the end. We had music and an open mike. People spoke about what the 4th meant to them. There was a reading of “Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century”

from Timothy Snyder’s book “On Tyranny”. We sold a lot of NKI swag and tees. Despite the bad news about the budget bill, we had a joyous time. We had a visit by 3 MAGA individuals for a bit right before the parade started. We used de-escalation techniques and they finally left, very disappointed they could not bait a non-peaceful response. Here is a FB live video, taken as we were setting up for the event before NKI supporters joined us.

Good Trouble Lives On mobilization – National Day of Action, (details to be determined)

Good Trouble Lives On refers to a term popularized by the late Rep. John Lewis, who has described his significant involvement and leadership in the 1960s civil rights movement — he was an original Freedom Rider and an organizer of the March on Washington in 1963 — as “good trouble” and “necessary trouble.” Over the years, the Georgia lawmaker’s use of the phrase good trouble has served as a reminder of the importance of activism.

Process the news with Indivisible co-founders Ezra Levin and Leah Greenberg

Every Thursday at 3pm, we take a step back to absorb the news of the past week, draw inspiration from the work Indivisibles and allies are doing all across the country, and talk about how we fight back. The onslaught of news, the chaos coming out of the White House – it’s all meant to overwhelm us. It’s a deliberate strategy to sow confusion and make us believe we are powerless to fight back. The antidote: Coming together in community to process what’s happening, to sift through what’s important and what’s just noise, and coalesce around strategies for fighting back.  Click here to register.

Federal Building Fridays 11:30 AM-1:30 PM

Come for 5 minutes or 2 hours – we’ll be there every week

Where: Henry M. Jackson Federal Building, 915 2nd Ave, Seattle
If the Trump / Musk agenda were happening in any other country no one would hesitate to call it a coup in progress. Naomi Klein has called it a “counter revolution”, though she points out that we never completed the revolution, so we find ourselves defending a future which hasn’t yet manifested itself. We must accept that saving American democracy is up to us – there’s no cavalry coming.

Mission Statement

North Kitsap Indivisible is committed to fight for social justice and to maintain civil liberties. We model inclusion, respect, and fairness in all of our actions. We believe the policies and actions of the modern Republican Party are racist, authoritarian, corrupt and are damaging the environment.
