Why We Persist in Resisting

Public Citizen has filed 15 lawsuits — so far — against the administration since Donald Trump returned to power. Click here for a recap of what each lawsuit is about and its current status.

Neo-Nazi group ‘actively seeking to grow in US’ with planned paramilitary training event

The Base is emerging from shadows and ramping up its ranks as White House turns blind eye to the far right. “The upcoming national training event indicates that the group is seeking to grow and is willing to take the risk of advertising it publicly in advance. The Base appears to be actively seeking to grow in the US.”

Outrage after Republican representative disparages Sikh prayer in the US House
Mary Miller had first mistaken Giani Singh for a Muslim and said it was ‘deeply troubling’ he was allowed to lead prayer. Democrats response: “Sikhs and Muslims practice two separate and distinct religions and conflating the two based on how someone looks is not only ignorant, but also racist,”

“Family Feud” Edition of the News

The latest: Money can’t buy him love: Republicans give Elon Musk the cold shoulder
The billionaire’s acrimonious blow-up with Trump is a time to choose sides –and legislators are toeing the Maga line. Republicans were balancing the strength of Trump’s voice among GOP voters versus the power of the increasingly unpopular Musk’s money – and most had little doubt which matters most.

Well, that escalated quickly! – Taking the Trump-Musk War Seriously

Special emergency Triad: In chaos there is opportunity.

1. This could all go away tomorrow. It is possible that by the time you read this, Musk and Trump will have brokered a peace. Then they say,“Ha-ha, you shitlibs fell for it. We were trolling you for the lulz. That was all kayfabe.” There are a lot of stakeholders who desperately need Trump and Musk to end hostilities. Their incentives are strong enough to expend resources making it worth both parties’ whiles to sign a ceasefire.

2. If it doesn’t go away tomorrow, the Trump-Musk rift creates peril for both Trump’s authoritarian project and the tech oligarchy.

Let’s walk through the strategic implications for all of the players.

SpaceX owner rows back on threat to decommission Dragon spacecraft after X user advises him to “cool off’

The inevitable Trump-Musk feud is finally here – and it’spathetic

This would all be sad enough even if it didn’t have global consequences. For Democrats, the moment has come

Good News

Homeland Security’s list of ‘sanctuary cities’ pulled down after sheriffs object

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security over the weekend took down a public list of cities and jurisdictions that the Trump administration labeled as “sanctuary” cities, after a sharp rebuke from a group representing 3,000 sheriffs and local law enforcement. On Saturday, National Sheriffs Association President, Sheriff Kieran Donahue, slammed the list as an “unnecessary erosion of unity and collaboration with law enforcement.”

News from WA DC – Kudos to Representative Emily Randall

Two important bills that Rep. Emily Randall [D-WA6] is sponsoring:

H.R. 3566: ANCHOR for Military Families Act, May 21, 2025. Read the one-pager for an explanation of what this bill will do for military families. This bill’s text is now available.

and

H.R. 3654: To authorize the integration and administrative streamlining of Federal funding for Indian Tribes that have reservations, otherTribal lands, or ways of life at risk due to environmental impacts and natural disasters, and for other purposes. May 29, 2025.

This bill was referred to the House Committee on Natural Resources which will consider it before sending it to the House floor for consideration. Rep. Emily Randall [D-WA6] is a member of the committee.

Welcome to 2025, where democracy is hanging on by a gold-plated thread spun by Elon Musk’s Twitter rants and Trump’s billionaire-funded spray tan. As the late Jimmy Carter warned us with the gentle frustration of a man who built houses in his 90s while billionaires built political empires, America has completed its evolution from a representative democracy into a Silicon Valley-themed amusement park ride called Oligarchy

June 14th at 8:30-9:15am starting at  City Hall – Silent Peace March

Then encouraging everyone to attend Junteenth in Bremerton

June 14th: (Juneteenth in Bremerton), 10:15am-3pm, is an important annual event in Bremerton that we support. Midtsommer Fest, Poulsbo’s annual Scandinavian solstice festival, will be using the gazebo in Poulsbo on June 14th from 10am to pm. So, while Trump revels in his megalomaniacal show of military force birthday party in the nation’s capital on June 14, we will join nationwide demonstrations with a NO KINGS! We will have a Silent Peace March, 8:30-9:15am (coinciding in real-time with the extravaganza in D.C.) We will gather at Poulsbo City Hall with signs and march promptly to Front Street for the loop and back IN SILENCE. No speakers, no chants, no music – a truly silent and focused demonstration. We encourage people to bring signs that say either NO KINGS! or PEACE. This gives us time to make our point and move on to continue the day. Process the news with Indivisible co-founders Ezra Levin and Leah Greenberg

Every Thursday at 3pm, we take a step back to absorb the news of the past week, draw inspiration from the work Indivisibles and allies are doing all across the country, and talk about how we fight back. The onslaught of news, the chaos coming out of the White House – it’s all meant to overwhelm us. It’s a deliberate strategy to sow confusion and make us believe we are powerless to fight back. The antidote: Coming together in community to process what’s happening, to sift through what’s important and what’s just noise, and coalesce around strategies for fighting back Click here to register

Federal Building Fridays 11:30 AM  1:30 PM

Come for 5 minutes or 2 hours – we’ll be there every week

Where: Henry M. Jackson Federal Building, 915 2nd Ave, Seattle
If the Trump / Musk agenda were happening in any other country no one would hesitate to call it a coup in progress. Naomi Klein has called it a “counter revolution”, though she points out that we never completed the revolution, so we find ourselves defending a future which hasn’t yet manifested itself. We must accept that saving American democracy is up to us – there’s no cavalry coming.
